Roeder, Elizabeth (Liisa) Eleanor of Minneapolis passed away November 15, 2021 after a quarrel with Alzheimer's disease and recently contracting Covid 19. Preceded by Parents Edward and Susanna Saaristo, Brother Ernest and Son Michael. Survived by Son Todd, Daughters-in-law Nancy Roeder and Dorothy Koskiniemi as well as her Siamese Cat Betty. A child of Iron Range immigrants, after college and living in England Liisa came to the cities to discover jazz music, work in museums, and earn a Master's Degree in Education while raising two boys. Teaching elementary art for the Minneapolis Public Schools, she found her calling nurturing the artistic talents and creativity of many inner-city children. She loved gardening, cooking and travelling the world with close friends A lifelong activist for Peace, Civil Rights and Social Justice, after retirement Liisa travelled throughout Mexico, Central America and Cuba opposing war and poverty with organizations such as Potters for Peace, the Resource Center for the Americas and others. A celebration of her life will take place Saturday, December 4th 12:30 to 3:00 at the Black Forest Inn, 26th and Nicollet Ave. So., Mpls Memorials in lieu of flowers to: TUBMAN, 4432 Chicago Ave. So., Mpls., MN 55407.
