Brooks, Erich A. was born April 14, 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from Collinwood High School, Erich came to Northfield, Minnesota to attend Carleton College. He majored in Art and graduated from Carleton in 1975. After graduation, he remained in Minneapolis. He worked for a number of Minnesota based companies including Prudential, IBM, Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, and United Health Care. He retired as a computer programmer and worked part time in his retirement for the Minneapolis Park Board. Erich was an avid collector of music, movies, comic books and watches, among other things. He enjoyed making compilation CD's and what were then called mixtapes for family and friends. He was an original member of the Crowd Pleasers. a group that provided entertainment venues for African Americans moving to the Twin Cities in the late 70s, early 80s. Erich loved photography and took pictures wherever he went. He was one of a kind, a man one never forgot and he left an imprint upon everyone he met. Erich passed September 10, 2021, having lived for almost 3 years with pancreatic cancer. He is preceded in death by his mother, Harriett Leggon Allen, step father, Ernest Allen, and a sister, Tracy Allen. He is survived by his brother Mark Hunter (Crystal), sisters, Stacy Allen and Michelle Allen, his aunt, Novella Leggon-Collins, and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. A memorial service celebrating Erich's life is being planned for spring 2022, and a notice will be provided once details are finalized.
