Alberta E. (Brown) Childs

Childs (nee Brown), Alberta E. Age 91 of Maplewood, MN passed away on Oct. 7, 2021, at Walker Methodist Care Suites under the care of family and hospice. She was preceded in death by her parents Elsie and Koester Brown, Brothers, Harold, and Koester Jr and spouse Don Childs Sr. Alberta is survived by her children: Kathy Fuller (Rick Smith); Gregg Tiger (Kerry); and Julie Jorgenson (Dave). Four Grandchildren: Naomi Tiger, Zach Tiger, Kayla Jorgenson (Ben Jorgenson) and Matthew Jorgenson. Her stepson Donnie Childs Jr, and special friend De'Anne Dawn. A celebration of life service will be held at New Life Evangelical Lutheran Church, 180 County Rd F, Shoreview, MN 55126 on Oct. 21. Visitation at 10:00 AM, Service at 11:00 AM followed by a light lunch. The family requests masks be worn. Alberta grew up in St. Paul, MN. She married her high school sweetheart, Gerald Tiger, and they moved to San Francisco, CA. There she was an elevator operator at The Emporium near her favorite Golden Gate Bridge. She returned to MN and enjoyed working at the St. Paul Companies. She shared a lifelong love of sewing that was an important source of income, enjoyment, and pride. Alberta loved holding little babies. She made and gave baby quilts to newborn members at her church. She also loved to make handmade greeting cards for family, friends, and church. In lieu of flowers, please send a card to someone important to you. Memorials can be given to the American Cancer Society.
