Anderson (nee Nelson), Amy Marie died peacefully at her home in Little Canada, MN on September 24, 2021, at the age of 56. She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Scott Anderson, daughter Tatum Anderson, mother Shirley Nelson of Roseville MN, siblings Grant (Lisa) Nelson, Eric (Beth) Nelson, and Beth Nelson, mother and father-in-law Craig and Barbara Anderson, sister-in-law Jenny (Richard) Wick, friends, and extended family. She is preceded in death by her father, Roger Nelson, and sister-in-law Linda Anderson. Amy Anderson was born during a St Paul snowstorm, on April 18, 1965, to Roger and Shirley Nelson. In 1970, her family moved to Roseville, MN, where she had a very active social life. She earned a BA in French in 1988 from the University of Minnesota. During her college years she met Scott Anderson, and they married in 1989. Scott's career in the insurance industry led the couple to live in Miami and Milwaukee for short periods before settling in Little Canada, MN. Amy worked in the mortgage banking industry until 1997 when her daughter Tatum was born and she turned her focus to motherhood. Amy was ever the loving mother to Tatum and devoted sister to Beth, and spent the following years helping them with their special needs. She took them to appointments, advocated for their legal and educational rights and living arrangements, and accompanied them to restaurants and some very silly movies. Amy also started volunteering around 2003 at a number of organizations, focusing on the Roseville Area School District's preschool program. After doing this work for about 15 years the teachers and staff honored her with a retirement party. She has kept in close touch with this group in the years since. In her later years Amy battled breast cancer and congestive heart failure, yet continued to organize Anderson and Nelson gatherings, and help family out with transportation needs and grocery runs. She kept an active, warm correspondence with her friends, her Aunt Marilyn McLaughlin and Uncle Barry Krogh, and her nieces and nephews. She had a talent for being an aunt. Everyone that knew Amy will remember her belly laugh and her gregarious, loving hugs. Many will remember her goofy, cut-paste-and-laminate birthday cards. "She was my rock," said her sister, Beth Nelson. Her mother, Shirley Nelson, said, "She was the heart and soul of our family." Memorial Services will be at Roselawn Cemetery, 803 Larpenteur Ave. W., Roseville, MN 55113 at 11AM on October 28, 2021, visitation one hour prior. Due to the pandemic, services are held outdoors under shelter as well as other related precautions. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, the Autism Society of Minnesota, or Second Harvest Heartland.
