Johnson, David T. 60, of Crane, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at his residence. He was born October 30, 1959, in Yokosuka, Japan to Harlan and Yuriko Johnson and was later adopted by Karen Johnson after Yuriko's passing. David grew up in New Hope, Minnesota, where he learned to fish, play sports and love rock 'n' roll. "DJ," as he was known by most of his military friends, earned this nickname not only for the initials in his name but because he was a DJ earlier in life. It was also in Minnesota that David fell in love with all of their professional sports teams: Twins, Vikings, North Stars and Fighting Saints. He'd don Twins apparel during the summer, but come fall out would come the Vikings jersey. David joined the Navy after graduating from Cooper High School and eventually settled in Crane, Indiana, calling it home the rest of his life. Later, David would join the Air Force and then serve in the Indiana Air National Guard before retiring in 2017 as a Master Sargent. Family left to cherish the memory of David includes two brothers, Allen Johnson and Craig (Nichole and Ellie) Johnson and one sister, Kelli Dooher (Doug, daughters: Allie, Kayia and Danica). David is preceded in death by his parents, Harlan and Karen Johnson. A celebration of life to remember David will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, at River Bend Venue at River's Edge, 1820 Raleigh Rd, New Richmond, WI 54017. David will be laid to rest in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
