Canavati, Saleh M. age 86 of Mendota Heights passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 28, 2021. Survived by loving wife of 61 years, Deanna; children Mitri Canavati, Chris Canavati (Lori), Elizabeth Canavati-Skoog (Mark); grandchildren Michael (Kelly), Caitlin, Nicole, Christian, Kelsey, Ellie and Preston; sister Athina Canavati. Saleh immigrated to the United States in 1950 from Bethlehem, Palestine and established residency in Laredo, TX. In the late 1950's on a trip to St. Paul, he met his wife while attending the church that his uncle was serving as the priest. After being married in St. Paul, a return to Texas where they started their family. In 1962, they moved their family to St. Paul where he lived the rest of his life. Saleh was passionate about his career as a Haberdasher for Saks 5th Ave. He served prominent clientele, including Saudi Royals, Carl Pohlad, Dwight Opperman and many others. He humbly received numerous international awards for his accomplishments. He was a life-long devout member of the Orthodox church. Saleh enjoyed fishing gardening, Minnesota Twins baseball and traveling. Above all, he was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. May his memory be eternal. Visitation Sunday, October 3 from 4-7 PM with Trisagion service at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel, West 50th St. and Vernon Ave. at Hwy 100.
