Brown, James Todd 61, of Shakopee, Minnesota, passed away on October 23, 2020, while hunting pheasants with his beloved dogs Otis and Sunnie. James was born in Minneapolis and raised there, in Anaheim, California, and Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, where he graduated from high school. He spent his summers in Estrella Mountain Ranch for the last seven years. Following high school, James proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was stationed stateside and in South Korea as a helicopter technician. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked several jobs before he found his niche in sales. With James' personality, he could form relationships and sell anything to anyone. Taking a big risk, James and his business partners started Source One Financial, a company that specializes in financing boats and recreational vehicles. They made it a very successful venture. He recently semi-retired and had many wonderful plans for his future. James was an avid dog lover, hunter, golfer, motorcyclist, horseman, outdoor enthusiast, and Gopher hockey fan. He was a wonderful storyteller and had a mostly appropriate joke for every occasion. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Brown (Meyers), his father, Gaynard Brown Sr., sister Susan Kay, and will be sorely missed by sisters Jeanne and Rita (Rudy), brothers Greg (Nancy) and Gaynard. He was adored by his numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews Amanda, Sara, Josh, Kathryn, Lindsay, Jason, Shannon, Ryan, Molly, Kemal, John, Mike, Cole, Ella, Mason, Cullen, Vera, Levi, Matthew, and Hayden, as well as aunt and uncle Donna and Richard Mason. He was truly the glue that held our family together. Although he did not have the opportunity to say goodbye to his family or numerous friends, we will always remember his witty personality, his charm, his generous spirit, and his concern for all of us. Rest in Peace, James! A ceremony at Fort Snelling will be held on what would have been James' 62nd birthday, September 24th. In James' honor, if you would like to share his name please do so with the: Hospitality House Youth Development, P.O. Box 11008, Minneapolis, MN 55411. This is an organization that James spent much energy and resources to promote for the betterment of the youth in that community.
