Allen, Harold P. "Harry" age 71, of Deephaven, passed away peacefully at home on September 7, 2021, surrounded by his wife and three daughters. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, LeeAnne (Savage); daughters Emily Benz (Brian), Katie Malloy (Kevin), and Mary Graef (James); grandchildren Lucy Benz, Clare Malloy, and Oliver Benz; siblings, Judy, Bill (Susie), Katie (Bruce), Richard, and Bob (Cathy); many nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Harold was born on October 12, 1949, in Minneapolis, MN to Kenneth and Barbara (Pond) Allen, the third of their six children. He attended Minnetonka High School, class of 1967, and Colorado College, class of 1973, where he played hockey and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. After graduation, Harry spent two seasons playing hockey in Dortmund, Germany, where he formed lifelong friendships. Harry owned his own business for nearly 40 years and took great pride in the relationships he developed with customers and vendors alike. He encouraged in his children and grandchildren a generous spirit and positive attitude, the importance of family, and a love of downhill skiing, sailboat racing, skating, and just all-around having fun. Whatever the weather, you knew you could find Harry messing about with boats. We will miss his booming voice, bushy mustache, adventurous spirit, and endless knowledge of all things history. We will gather together to celebrate Harry's life on Thursday, September 16th, 2021, at 2pm at the historic Old Log Theater in Greenwood, MN. Masks will be required. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Cottagewood Community Foundation, Lake Minnetonka Sailing School, or go have some fun with people you love in his honor.
