Anderson, Marguerite Ann Foley 83, slipped peacefully into the next world during the early morning thunderstorms of August 24th, 2021. Her last fifteen months were spent in the loving embrace of family, home health care, friends, relatives, neighbors and her faithful cat. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles John Anderson, her parents Richard and Mary Foley, her brother Joseph Foley, nephews Stephen and Kevin Foley, and many friends, relatives and pets. Marguerite is survived by children Paula Anderson, Catherine (Tom) Ryther, and Michael Anderson, brother Richard Foley, granddaughters Sarah and Mary, and many nieces, nephews, and longtime friends and relations. Marguerite grew up on a farm just outside of LeSueur, MN in a lively, talented and charming Irish family. Wit, hospitality, music, laughter, grace, grit, faith, and a bit of mischief marked the passing of many generations on the Foley farm. After attending the College of St. Benedict, Marguerite moved to Uptown, Minneapolis, where she worked at KSTP and Pillsbury. She soon met Charlie Anderson at a party. He was quiet, funny, and warm. They quickly fell in love and were married in 1964. After an extended honeymoon in Europe, they started their family in a new area in Bloomington, where they were founding members of St. Edward's Catholic church. Charlie worked as an engineer for Univac while Marguerite raised their three children before going back to work as a legal secretary. She also spent her time volunteering in a number of capacities, including many years as a group facilitator at Cornerstone. She was musical and literary, playing the piano, clarinet, participating in book groups and spirituality classes, and singing in several choirs. Always quick with words and fun, Marguerite and Charlie often made time for plays, Minnesota Orchestra performances, operas, lecture series, and museums. They also enjoyed a world of tennis, golf and travel, both with treasured friends from childhood and those encountered along the way. Gifts in memory of Marguerite Anderson can be made to Cornerstone Advocacy Service in Bloomington, a nonprofit working with families impacted by domestic violence. 100 E. 80th Street, Bloomington, MN 55420.
