Johnston, Dale K. Age 88 of Minnetonka, MN, formerly of Edina, MN; passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 13th. Born in Harmony, Wisconsin July 27, 1932. Preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Robert Johnston, and brother Jim. He is survived by his loving wife Rosemary of 64 years; Children: Kristen Radtke (Tom), David (Sue Budd) and Peter (Kerry); Sister Bobbi Damiani (Frank); Grandchildren Nicholas and Bennett Radtke, Sydney and Kassidy Myers and many nieces, nephews, work colleagues, and friends. He served in the Navy as a radarman on the USS Bordelon, creating fond memories and good friendships. After leaving the service he married Rosemary and moved to Minneapolis. He graduated from Minneapolis College of Art and Design with a MFA in Graphic Design. His career in graphic design took him to GM, Chrysler, John Deere Co, and Control Data before starting up his own firm Design Center Inc. and later Johnston Design Office. He was a talented designer; his designs are still seen locally in Minneapolis and throughout the US. He loved all things well designed, including mid-century modern furniture, being outdoors as an avid hunter with his sons, building and spending time in his rustic log cabin and travelling with Rosemary. He was thoughtful, soft spoken, gentle and kind. A celebration of life open house is planned for August 19th; 3:00 - 6:00 at The Marsh, 15000 Minnetonka Blvd., Minnetonka MN.
