Hinchliff, John J. Age 99, peacefully passed 11-17-2020. Preceded in death by wife Muriel, 1 son & 2 granddaughters. Survived by 4 children, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren. John joined the newly formed Airborne Corps after Pearl Harbor and served with the 507th Parachute Infantry. He was awarded the French Legion of Honor and 3 Bronze Stars. He was featured in several documentaries to include Tom Brokaw's Eyewitness to History. His story remains on display at the MN History Center as he narrates D-Day inside a C47 Exhibit. He is the LAST surviving member of the 2004 men of the 507th who parachuted into Normandy on D-Day. He is a true hero and an exemplary member of the Greatest Generation. Funeral service 11AM, Saturday, November 28 with visitation 1 hour prior to service at Washburn McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd. Graveside service immediately following at Epiphany Cemetery with full military honors.
