Skavnak (Smith), Sheila D. 76, of N.E. Minneapolis passed away peacefully after a long, courageous battle with Dementia and a recent battle with Covid on November 17, 2020. Sheila was born in Minneapolis on July 10, 1944 and was a graduate of Edison High School. After graduation, Sheila went to Model Beauty School, where she met her husband of 55 years. She married the love of her life, Thomas Skavnak, on April 24, 1965 in Minneapolis. Sheila worked many years as a hair dresser, a stay-at-home housewife and mother, and retired from The Blake School. Sheila enjoyed years of family gatherings, bowling, camping and attending events for her girls and grandchildren. She loved magazines, fabric stores, sewing, country music and classic television shows. Sheila was a devout Catholic and was an active member at St. Clement Catholic Church. Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Smith and Alberta Smith Johnson, her step-father, Richard Johnson, brothers Rodney and Jerry, sister-in-law Jan, mother-in-law and father-in-law Michael and Alice Skavnak. Survived by loving husband, Thomas, daughters Raechel (Steve) Brennan, Candi (Dave) Brennan, grandchildren Angie, Corey and Jordan, great-grandchildren Mateo, Nico and Tomas, brother Rehn (Karen); brother-in-law Michael (Shirley), sister-in-law Mary (Brian), many loving nieces, nephews and friends, especially Jeannette and Rich Seals. A special thank you to the Eagle Crest Arbor for taking great care of Sheila the last three years, and to Presbyterian Homes Interlude for their recent care of Sheila due to Covid. Sheila was a caring, family-oriented woman of God, and will be tremendously missed by her family and friends. Due to Covid, a Celebration of Life will be planned for a future time.
