Buck, John Robert Age 89, of St Louis Park, passed away November 9, 2020. Preceded in death by wife of 65 years, Mary Buck. Survived by children Ann (Sidney) Wood, Robert (Cheryl Quinn) Buck, and Nancy (Tony) Baker; grandchildren Jennifer Wood, Allison (Lance) Lundquist, Annika and Kyle Baker; great grandchildren Max, Gus, and Oliver. John was born on November 11, 1930 in Vandalia, IL and grew up in Decatur, IL. After serving in the Air Force during the Korean War, John went to work for Univac, now Unisys, as a Technician. While working full time and supporting a family, John earned his Electrical Engineering degree and MBA from the University of Minnesota. Toward the end of his 35 year career at Unisys, John was Manager of Metrology and Steering Committee Chair of Total Quality Management. John was a dedicated volunteer for many organizations over the years, most notably MADD for 16 years, and Junior Achievement. John and Mary were active members at Aldersgate UMC in St Louis Park for 60 years. John was a lifelong learner and was happiest when he felt he was improving or learning something new. John loved to sing and sang with many choirs throughout his life, including the Apollo Male Chorus. He was a private pilot, enjoyed electronics, reading, running and golf. Private family memorial service for both John and Mary will be held at 10am Wednesday, November 25.
