Ellingson, Ronald K. Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Wed. Oct. 21, 2020. He was born to parents Mandie and Earling Ellingson in Minneapolis on April 7, 1932. Ron graduated from Washburn High School and went on to study at the U of MN. The Korean War interrupted school where he served from 1952-54. He spent 2 additional years of college at Gustavus and proudly finished an Economics BS Degree from the U of M in 1965. He married Carolyn Martner in 1955 and led a suburban life through the 60's raising a family in Richfield, MN. Life changed abruptly in 1977 with a divorce and Ron entered a new chapter in his life that brightened considerably in 1997 when he married Karen Schreiner. He and Karen lived wonderfully and fully for his last 20 years enjoying world travel and lots of golf. They enjoyed summering in the Twin Cities and wintering in Estero, FL, where they owned a condo. Ron was thoroughly embraced by Karen's extended family which added to his joy during his retirement years. In fact, "family" is listed as one of his hobbies, the others being golf and all things Norwegian. Ron's easy going personality in life and on the golf course made him lots of friends, old and young. He is quoted as saying he "took a lifetime to grow up". Ron extends his personal gratitude to the wonderful nurses at Fairview Hospice and the nurses from Grace ATeam. Ron is survived by his wife, Karen Schreiner; children, Jeffrey (Terry), Terry (Anne), and Randy (Maria); with grandchildren, Paige, Karl, Kelli, Allison, Holly, Anna and Charlotte; as well as step-children, Mark Schreiner (Ann) and Amy Pucel (Ken) and their children, Edward, Caroline, Harry, James, Sarah, Grace and Joe. Donation can be made to the Salvation Army or local Planned Parenthood organizations. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
