Martinson (Christensen) Ruth M. age 92 of Burnsville, MN passed away peacefully on October 9th with her loving daughters by her side. Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband Marty (Norm), daughter Kris Sorenson, grandson John Sorenson, son-in-law Gordy Otterlei, and many family members and friends. Ruth was born on February 3, 1928, the youngest of seven, to Chris and Mary Christensen. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1946 where she was an accomplished thespian and excellent student. Ruth went on to Medical Technology School in Minneapolis and began her career at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI; where she met her husband Marty. Ruth and Marty married on September 3, 1949. The early years of their marriage were spent traveling the states with Marty's job, making friends along the way. They returned to Minneapolis in 1954 and started their family. Ruth stayed at home raising their daughters. She was active in church, Girl Scouts, PTA, girls softball and Richfield Lions Club. In 1970 Ruth returned to work. Her final job was at Business Incentives, which she retired from in 1985. After retiring, Ruth and Marty moved to Florida; Venice and then Summerfield, where they spent 19 wonderful years before moving back to Minnesota in 2004. Ruth was an avid golfer until the age of 92. She enjoyed bridge, travel, country drives, reading and spending time with family and friends. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Grammy, GG and friend. She will be dearly missed. Ruth is survived by her three daughters; Karen (Joe) LaBate, Kathy Otterlei and Nancy Carlile, 13 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, her loving sister Cris (Nick) Nickerson and many extended family members and friends. The family would like to thank Allina Hospice for their wonderful support. A celebration of Ruth's life will be held at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6901 Normandale Rd. Edina, MN 55435, on Friday, October 30th at 1;00pm.
