Nemanich, John George Of Vadnais Heights, passed away October 4, 2020, at age 79. Dearly missed husband, father, beloved "Papa," and brother. John was born July 20, 1941, in Soudan, Minnesota, to John G. Nemanich, Sr. and Frances (Yapel). He was raised in Long Prairie and graduated from St. John's University in 1963. John enjoyed a rewarding career with Sperry/Unisys in Roseville, Minnesota, starting as a programming engineer and moving into management positions; he retired from Unisys in 2001. Preceded in death by parents and sister, Ann. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeanne (Kowal), daughters Kelly (Randy) Griffith of Rosemount, and Heidi Goodreid of Maplewood, grandchildren MacKenzie and Lucas Goodreid, and Jack Griffith, brother Michael of Long Prairie, and sister, Mary Bell of Sartell. John was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, the BWCA, hunting, trap shooting or fishing. You could often find John in a field, on a trail, or on the water. He was a skilled photographer and woodworker, and was the one you called if something needed to be fixed. John and Jeanne enjoyed annual trips to Estes Park, Colorado and Brainerd Lakes. Above all, he loved his family and engaged in his grandchildren's activities as a proud fan, mentor or participant. John was a member of St. John the Baptist in New Brighton. A service will be held later this year. Memorials preferred to Pheasants Forever.
