She was the fifth of five children born to Thomas and Mary McMath and was preceded in death by her longtime partner, Carl Patterson and siblings Janet Treat, Bill McMath and John McMath, nephew Rodger Sentieri and "son" Paul Beck. Her brother Neil McMath subsequently passed away in California on Friday, July 24th. Betty worked for National School Studios (later Lifetouch National School Studios) in Eden Prairie, MN for almost 50 years, retiring in the 1990's. She later was a volunteer at PRISM (People Responding in Social Ministry) in Golden Valley and other local volunteer organizations. Betty was proud of her Scottish heritage and travelled to Scotland in 1977 with her sister and nephew Bruce Treat to visit the old country. She was also an avid sports fan, following the Gophers, Twins and Vikings. Over the years, as her family moved to the West Coast and her neighborhood changed, she became known as "Grandma" to many neighbors and they looked after her like they would their own family. Many, many thanks to longtime friends and neighbors Debbie Hellerud, Jo White and Robin Ohlhauser for taking care of Betty during the last years of her life. Betty is survived by nieces and nephews in Arizona, California, Minnesota, Nevada and Washington as well as numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 10 AM with a gathering of family and friends at the Washburn-McReavy Crystal Lake Funeral Home and Chapel, 3816 Penn Ave. North, Minneapolis, MN (612-521-3677).
