Speed, Irene Esteola (known to her family as Midget) was born in February 1952 in Bessemer, Alabama, daughter of the late Eugene and Alma Speed. On Monday, July 27, 2020, with her sisters, Barbara and Meryl at her Intensive Care bedside, she slipped quietly away and went home to be with the Lord. In 1970 she started her career at Northwestern Bell where she retired after nearly forty years of service. She enjoyed cooking wonderful meals for her family and friends. She leaves to cherish her siblings, Lorenza, Bernice, Patsy, Barbara, Ray, Netta, Meryl and a host of beautiful nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, in-laws and friends. Waiting to join her in glory are her mother, father, brother, Eugene Jr., her sister, Rebecca and her nieces and nephew, Paullah, Bridget and Alfarah who preceded her in death. Soon there will be a Cenotaph in the Ossuary at Crystal Lake Cemetery at 3816 Penn Av. North.
