Gene Roger Tews
Tews, Gene Roger Excelsior, MN - Gene R. Tews passed away from cancer complications on the morning of July 26 at his home with his family at the age of 80 years 1 month and 2 days. He was born June 24, 1940 to Ernest and Helen Tews of Hutchinson, MN. Gene served with the US Army from '58-'62. After the military he returned home where Gene met and married his wife Sharon in '64. They recently celebrated 56 amazing years of marriage in April. Gene was a long time resident of Excelsior where he was a dedicated member of the local Post Office and service team at Haskell's Port of Excelsior for over 25 years. Gene, "Geno" as his friends would call him, enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, gardening and watching any sports on TV. Gene was a loving husband, caring father and grandfather, as well as a great friend to many. In addition to his parents, Gene was predeceased by a brother, Gary. Surviving in addition to his wife, Sharon, are his sons, James and partner Chandra Denault of Silver Lake, MN; William and wife Jennifer of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Marty Jean, Betty Lee and Gordon Roger; one brother, Glenn Tews, and wife Joyce of Hutchinson, MN; one sister, Donna Tews, of Hutchinson, MN; as well as many nieces and nephews. A day of remembrance will be held at Huber Funeral Home Excelsior Chapel, 520 Second St., Excelsior, MN 55331 on Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 1-5 pm. Due to current precautions surrounding the ongoing health situation, facemasks and proper social distancing guidelines will be required.
