Dahlstrom, Donald D. (M.D.) Age 85, of Minneapolis, went home to be with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on 12/22/19. Survived by his loving family; daughters, Deirdre (Christopher) Hultgren, Alissa (Eric) Canfield, Amelia (Adam) Gislason, Enid (Shane) Mason; grandchildren, Lacey, Jackson, Olivia, Carver, Walker, Ellery, Lily Rose and Colton Donald; brothers, Roger Dahlstrom and Tom Dahlstrom. Preceded in death by wife, Gail Dahlstrom; brother, Steven Dahlstrom; parents, Oscar and Enid Dahlstrom; and step-mother, Edna Dahlstrom. Graduate of Balaton High School, Gustavus Adolphus College, and the University of Minnesota Medical School. Served his country as Chief of Radiology in the US Army, Fort Polk, LA from 1967-1969 attaining the rank of Major. Was Board Certified in Radiology, with Special Competence in Nuclear Medicine in 1974, and served that year as President of the Minnesota Medical Alumni Association. Worked with dedication as a Radiologist at Eitel Hospital and the Nicollet Clinic, Minneapolis, MN 1969-1979, Paul Larson OB-GYN Clinic and Breast Cancer Detection Center, Edina, MN 1978-2000, and for over 32 years at St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Shakopee, MN where he served as Chief of Radiology from 1980-2001, and Chief of Staff in 1982. He was a Board Member of the St. Francis Health Care Foundation from 1984-1996, and received their "Good Samaritan" award in 2001 honoring his contributions of leadership, medical care and compassionate volunteerism with many organizations. Upon retiring, he continued to practice medicine, working at Community Hospital, St. Peter, MN 2001-2005 and doing locums in several states from 2001-2012. Served as Director of the Minnesota Christian Ashram for 17 years. Was devoted to the love of his life, Gail, whom he married in 1956 and had 54 blessed years together. Played collegiate baseball and basketball, and contributed to 3 consecutive Gustavus MIAC Basketball Championships. Also enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, playing handball and tossing horseshoes. Loved spending time at his DDD Ranch working and raising Angus cattle and horses. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
