McGill, Jerold "Jerry" Jerry, age 87, passed away on October 31, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Elmer and Dolores McGill; brother, Ronald; and wife of nearly 40 years, Bonita Kempenich McGill. Jerry will be missed by his wife of 23 years, Bonnie Lenker McGill; children, Nan (Patrick) Whaley, Kevin (Karen) McGill, Terri (Todd) Nelson, Jeff (Jeni) McGill, and Corynn (Todd) Corcoran; step-children, John (Cara) Lenker, Amy (Joe) Schuller, and Angie (Nate) Hoialmen; 22 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Jerry was born in Minneapolis in 1932. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1950, earned his degree from the University of Minnesota in 1954, and served in the U.S. Army. After marrying Bonita in 1955, he began a successful sales career with several companies, ultimately forming his own company, J.J. McGill Associates. Jerry was highly regarded in his field for his honesty and integrity; furthermore, he understood that, in business and in life, relationships are everything. And don't forget a firm handshake! After the death of Bonita in 1995, Jerry met and married Bonnie Lenker in 1996, stating that, "Neither one of us ever thought we'd be this happy again!" Jerry also enjoyed hunting, golf, traveling, listening to music, and dinners with friends and family. He was a devoted sports fan and a devout Catholic. For over 40 years Jerry was a faithful member of St. Edward's Church in Bloomington, MN, also fulfilling roles as Eucharistic Minister and Confirmation teacher. Dad's love for us was unconditional, unwavering, and selfless. He taught us by example as much as by words. In the last year he endured his illness with grace and dignity. Jerry's family would like to thank the compassionate caregivers at Bloomington HealthPartners Hospice. We will celebrate Jerry's life on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at the Church of St. Edward's, 9401 Nesbitt Ave S., Bloomington 55437. Visitation will be at 10 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to HealthPartners Hospice Hope Fund and St. Edward's Catholic Church.
