Ryder, Marian Pearl age 97, of Bloomington, went to be with her Lord and Savior the morning of October 24, 2019, surrounded by loving family. Marian was born on January 19, 1922, in her family home on their potato farm in Embarrass, Minnesota. Preceded in death by Paul, her husband of 69 years, parents, John and Anna Maria Suihkonen, she was the sole survivor of 14 siblings. Survived by children, Susan Berkey, Paul (Joyce) Ryder, Pat (Mike) Esterley, Jane (Michael) Branshaw, Cynthia Newman and John Ryder; grandchildren, Matthew and Kate Duoos, Christopher (Johanna) Esterley, Nathan Esterley, Amber (Dirk) Lueders, Holly Branshaw, Andrew Ryder and Taylor Ryder; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Ingrid, and Freja Esterley, Leila and Elsa Lueders; and many nieces and nephews. Marian and Paul were active members of Emmaus Lutheran Church since 1954. Marian enjoyed many years of Bible Study and quilting with her friends at Emmaus. After their children were all in school, Marian worked for the Bloomington school lunch program and went on to work at B. Dalton (Barnes & Noble) from where she retired. She was an avid reader and enjoyed her flowers, birds, and garden. Most of all, she loved Jesus, her family and friends. A wonderful mother with a great sense of humor, a real "spit-fire" with strong faith and a good friend to many. She will be missed. A special thank you to all of her new friends at her penthouse apartment at SummerHouse in Bloomington and the caring HealthPartners Hospice team. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family. Visitation at 10 a.m., with the Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30 at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 8443 2nd Avenue South, Bloomington, MN 55420. www.
