Ernt, Mary Jeanne Age 96, of St. Anthony, MN, died peacefully September 11, 2019. Preceded in death by husband, Robert W. Ernt, son, Steven C. Ernt and brother, William Schafer. Survived by brother, John (Bud) Schafer; son, Bob (Lois Lenroot-Ernt) Ernt, daughter, Susan (Greg) Wakefield and daughter-in-law Patricia Mulcahy Ernt; grandchildren, Christopher (Jamie) Ernt, Lauren (Stephen) Ernt, Elizabeth (Justin) Wakefield Connell, Katherine Wakefield, Patrick (Susie) Wakefield, Jonathan Ernt; great granddaughters, Riley Lawler-Ernt and Aria Connell. Born and raised in southeast Minneapolis, Mary Jeanne attended Marshall High School, then graduated from the University of Minnesota, with a BA in Journalism. While at the university, Mary Jeanne was co-editor of the monthly U of M student humor magazine, Ski U Mah. Following graduation, she worked as an editor for The Journal of Oral Surgery. Mary Jeanne and Bob married in 1948. In 1952 they settled in St. Anthony Village, where they lived together for over 60 years. Throughout that time they were members of St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Mary Jeanne was very involved in volunteer work for her community (school libraries, high school band, and Village Gardeners). She enjoyed knitting, baking, reading, traveling, gardening. She was devoted to her family and valued time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her dogs and especially enjoyed the companionship of her last dog, Maddie, who lived with Mary Jeanne into her 96th year. In lieu of flowers, make memorials to Village Gardeners. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, November 9, 11:00 at St Joan of Arc Church, 4537 3rd Ave S, Mpls, MN, 55419. Interment Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation 1 hour prior to Mass at church.
