Davis, Dr. Eunice A. Pediatrician and Advocate for People with Developmental Disabilities Eunice Davis passed away on January 28, 2019, surrounded by her family. She served as director of an interdisciplinary program at Saint Paul Ramsey Hospital that provided services to handicapped children and young people. She taught courses as an Instructor and Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota's Medical School and School of Public Health. From 1965-1967, when her family briefly moved to Bismarck, North Dakota, she planned and developed a state plan for services to persons with mental retardation. Recently, she performed Social Security consulting work on pediatric disability determinations. Dr. Davis was active in the Twin Cities community. She served as Director of People's Child Care, and a board member for Peoples Inc. She was active in the Association for Retarded Citizens, the March of Dimes, and other organizations. She was a member of the Minnesota Governor's Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities, and chaired the Council from 1976-1979. She was born in Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota, in 1929. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, a medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School, an M.P.H., and degree in Administrative Medicine from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine, and a Fellow of the American Association on Mental Retardation. She was one of three women to graduate from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1954, reflecting her strength and independence. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and gardening. Survived by her husband of 63 years, Gordon; children, Craig S. (Colette), Cynthia Louis, Bryce (Beth); grandchildren, Ben, Blythe (Joey), Ariel, and Arik. A celebration of her life will be at 2 PM Thursday, January 31 at MUELLER-BIES FUNERAL HOME- ROSEVILLE, 2130 N. Dale St. @ County Rd. B. with a visitation from 1-2 PM. Private interment Ft.
