Dahlin, Eric 57, of Simsbury CT passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, October 12. Eric has been a pillar of the Connecticut musical com-munity, as cellist with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra for 37 years and teacher to many generations of young cellists. Born in Minneapolis, Eric began his musical training with Cynthia Eddie Britt and also studied with Derek Simpson in London. He received his B.M. from The Hartt School of Music and his M.M. from Yale University. His teachers were David Wells, Aldo Parisot and Bernard Greenhouse. Eric joined the Hartford Symphony during his second year of undergraduate studies and won the audition for Assistant Principal Cello in 2004. He loved teaching at his home studio and at the Hartt School. Eric was the founder of an international summer chamber music program, Music Adventure, hosted by Tenuta di Spannocchia in Siena, Italy. He will be remembered as an extraordinary father, a consum-mate artist and a captivating teacher. He is survived by his partner of many years, Katie Kennedy; his two sons, Martin and Elias; his parents, Inger and Donald Dahlin; and his brother, Kai Dahlin; aunts, Solveig Foley, Priscilla Dahlin Alberg (James); cousins, Mark Foley (Beverly), Sarah Foley Loff (Eric), David Foley (Amy), Kaja Foley Terlson (Mark), Peter Dahlin (Chris), Mark Dahlin, Rachel Dahlin Nehls (Tim); nephews and nieces, Miles Foley, Blake Terlson, Nathan and Jenna Dahlin, Samantha and Jake Dahlin, and Gunnar Nehls. A memorial for Eric will be held in the Twin Cities at a date to be determined.
