Carey, Blaine Lloyd Age 89 of Maple Grove passed away September 2nd, peacefully in his sleep at the cabin on Mille Lacs Lake. He was preceded in death by parents Lloyd & Theresa, brother Bernard and children Douglas, John, Kurt and Dawn. He is survived by his son James Carey, his sister Nancy Blanchard, and grandchildren Lanna & Casey. He was born Jan. 9, 1929, & lived on his grandparent's farm near Marvin, SD., where he attended Catholic school. His family moved to Mpls, & he graduated from Central High school in 1947. After school he enlisted in the Marine Core serving in the Korean War. He was always proud to be a Marine & donated blood at the VA for 60 years & had gallon awards. He attended Dunwoody for surveying & worked for the Mpls planning commission. Starting in real estate part time he was so successful he opened his own company "Carey Blanchard and Curry" and then Carey Development. He worked in real estate, property development & leasing. To the end he was still making deals. He was married twice, to Marjorie Hamm, and later to his former wife Del Krebs Carey with whom he started Garrison Trailer Park. He was a great example to us all to do as much as you can on this earth, and had many great adventures hunting and fishing with friends. He still golfed right up to the end, and could boast two holes in one! In spite of his hearing loss, Blaine kept his keen wit, gift of gab, and sense of humor to the end. He will be dearly missed. Burial will be at Fort Snelling, with private memorial and lunch arrangements pending.
