French, Roger Age 87, of Maple Grove, passed away Feb. 3, 2018. Preceded in death by parents Donald/Toyne, Grandson Daniel Cottam, Wife Dorothy French. Survived by Daughters Kathy Cottam and Gail (Scott) Luedke, Grandchildren, Brad (Lauren) Cottam, Jeff ( Lauren) Cottam, Adrienne Luedke, Lindsey (Eddie) Hoeft, Jesse Luedke And 6 great grandchildren. Through his six decade career in football, Coach Roger French mentored, taught, and positively influenced thousands of young men in both football and in life. He molded athletes into leaders, helped them navigate young adulthood, and encouraged them to be their very best. He turned his passion for football into shaping others to live, laugh, love, and enjoy everything that the Lord has blessed them with. He started his career in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Cleveland Browns. Then onto coaching at Memphis State Univ., Univ. of Wis. U of M, Brigham Young Univ. (1984 National Championship), Frankfurt Galaxy (Germany), Winnipeg Blue Bombers. After retiring, he coached at several Minneapolis high schools; Bloomington Kennedy, Maple Grove, Patrick Henry, and Minnetonka. Accumulating numerous awards along the way. Memorials preferred to Lord of Life Lutheran Church. Visitation Sunday (TODAY) 2/11/18 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm at Washburn-McReavy Glen Haven Chapel, 5125 West Broadway, Crystal.
