Now open: The Foursome What: The classic Wayzata men's store has moved to Plymouth and reopened in a sweeping new space. There's an impressive "tall and big" section. In addition to the men's clothes, there is a shoe store that features footwear for men, women and kids (including Uggs!).

History: The store was started in 1935 by a golf foursome. In 1955, Ron and Lucille Engel bought into the business. It's now run by his son, Gordy Engel, with two of his daughters -- Nicole Chose and Keri Rouen.

Shop now: There's an excellent selection of gifts, from certificates for custom-made shirts to sweaters and vests to leather gloves from St. Croix Knits of Winona, Minn.

Sales and events Local jewelry designer Melissa Luoma will be at Shorty's Loft (4590 Excelsior Blvd, St. Louis Park, 952-473-0404) on Thursday (5 to 8 p.m.). Her Serenity Jewels line features cubic zirconium and sterling silver. And now seems like a good time to incorporate CZ into your life.

Also on Thursday, there's a lot happening in Uptown. Local Motion (2813 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls., 612-871-8436) is hosting Ladies Night Out with door prizes, 20 percent off everything in the store and refreshments. The party will officially be from 4 to 9 p.m., but the discounts start at 11 a.m.

Then join the Uptown Boutique Crawl. From 5 to 9 p.m., shoppers receive free cocktails and 20 percent off a purchase at Atmosphere, Covered, Drama, Ivy and VState. If you visit all five boutiques, you'll receive a swag bag; supplies limited. In addition, Drama will be hosting a trunk show of Nelle Handbags.

It's a great weekend to get gifts for men: MartinPatrick (121 N. 1st St., Mpls., 612-746-5329) is holding its annual trunk show on Saturday. From 1 to 4 p.m., you can shop reading glasses by Eyebobs, leather bags by J.W. Hulme, ties by Pierrepont Hicks and vintage cufflinks from The Missing Link.

For the ladies, there's a Helen Wang trunk show at OPM (Saturday, noon to 5 p.m., 3700 Grand Way in St. Louis Park, 952-567-7399). Take 20 percent off your purchase from her new holiday collection.

Fashion meets art at Soo Visual Arts Center (Saturday, 7 p.m., 2640 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls., 612-871-2263, tickets $8 in advance and $10 at the door). Local artist Erin Currie has received a lot of attention for her Cursters plush dolls and has branched out into fashion. For the Curster's Dollmighty Fashion Show, clothing featured in the show will be for sale. Prices vary, depending on embellishments and intricacy: Hoodies and jackets are $90 to $300 and dresses are $125 to $1,200.

On Dec. 16, join Horst Rechelbacher for an evening at Intelligent Nutrients and Accolades Salon (5 to 8 p.m., 983 E. Hennepin Av., Mpls., 612-617-2011). He'll be talking and signing books. You can enjoy organic refreshments, browse beauty gifts and get a free mini-facial (appointments recommended), "aroma journey" and hand treatment.
