This proposed trade that would send Carmelo Anthony to the New Jersey Nets (really the Brooklyn Nets very soon, where they will be loved by hipsters in ironic jerseys) is just the next step in ensuring the NBA will soon become a league with six all-star teams rotating between ESPN and TNT games while other scrubs toil on local TV for teams that aspire to be second-round playoff cannon fodder. If Carmelo goes, then Chris Paul will follow him. LeBron, Wade and Bosh are already in Miami. Amare Stoudemire is in New York, and others are sure to follow there soon. Kobe and Gasol are with the Lakers. All we need is a couple more great players to go with Derrick Rose in Chicago (Dwight Howard!) and someone to convince the OKC Thunder and Kevin Durant that he really belongs in a more traditional basketball market (Boston?), and the NBA can achieve this dream. It's really getting close. We know they can do it. Maybe by 2013 San Antonio and Dallas will fade away and all will be well.
