Northwestern (Roseville) earns NCAA bid; MSU wins NSIC outright

UMAC PLAYOFFS

NORTHWESTERN (ROSEVILLE) 73, MINNESOTA-MORRIS 60: Wade Chitwood scored 13 points, Brian Lecheler had 10 points, six assists and five rebounds and the Eagles (21-6) advanced to the NCAA Division III tournament for the first time, beating the Cougars (15-12) to earn the first-ever automatic bid for the UMAC.

MINNESOTA STATE MANKATO 61, SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE 60: Marcus Hill made the tying and go-ahead free throws with five seconds left, giving the visiting Mavericks (22-3, 18-3 NSIC) a victory over the host Mustangs (12-13, 9-12) and the outright regular-season conference title. Had the Mavericks lost, they would have had to share the title with Mary, a 75-47 winner over Northern State in its season finale Saturday.

CONCORDIA (ST. PAUL) 78, ST. CLOUD STATE 66: Dan Vandervieren scored 19 points, Courtney Tyler added 18 and the host Golden Bears (16-10, 13-9) beat the Huskies (13-13, 12-10).

AUGUSTANA 90, MINNESOTA CROOKSTON 66: Former Ellsworth High School standout Cody Schilling scored a career-high 44 points as the Vikings (18-8, 15-7) beat the Golden Eagles (7-19, 3-19) in Sioux Falls, S.D.

BEMIDJI STATE 60, WINONA STATE 58: Jake Schalow had 21 points as the Beavers (11-15, 8-14) stunned the Warriors (17-9, 13-9) in Winona for the second year in a row.
