No. 5 Gophers lose at Purdue in volleyball

The No. 5 Gophers volleyball team lost for only the third time this season on Friday. No. 21 Purdue upset Minnesota 25-23, 21-25, 28-26, 25-14 in West Lafayette, Ind., ending the visitors' 11-match win streak.

Stephanie Samedy and Regan Pittman led the Gophers (23-3, 12-3 Big Ten) in kills with 14 apiece, Dalianliz Rosado had 10 digs and Molly Lohman five blocks.

The Boilermakers (19-7, 9-6) had an edge in almost every key statistical category, including hitting percentage .317 to .234, kills 75-52 and digs 64-53.

Purdue's .319 hitting percentage overall is the third highest among Division I teams.
