The No. 2 -ranked Gophers wrestling team renews its rivalry with No. 5 Oklahoma State at 2 p.m. Sunday in Stillwater, Okla.
The Cowboys (1-1) have won their past four December meetings with the Gophers (3-0) and are 22-13 against Minnesota overall. However, the Gophers won their last meeting, 28-9 at the National Duals on Feb. 23, 2013 at Williams Arena.
Several of Sunday's matches are between top-10 wrestlers, including the Gophers' Dylan Ness (No. 4) against OSU's Alex Dieringer (No. 2) at 157 pounds.
The Gophers are coming off a victory at No. 9 Oregon State. The Cowboys lost 16-15 to Oklahoma in their last dual meet.
Award for Gagliardi
John Gagliardi, the former St. John's University coach, will receive the Contributions to College Football Award on Thursday in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., from the National College Football Awards Association.
Among previous winners were Tom Osborne (2005), Bobby Bowden (2008) and Ara Parseghian (2012).
"It is hard to believe I am even mentioned with the previous nominees," Gagliardi said. "I have obviously out-punted my coverage and am completely out of my league.
"If I contributed anything to football perhaps it is that we were successful with a very different approach to coaching. We showed that we could win with short practices and no full-go contact, as well as other out-of-the-box tactics."
