MADISON, WIS. — Kate Schipper scored two goals and Sidney Peters made 37 saves as the Gophers edged Wisconsin 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Badgers' LaBahn Arena in a matchup of the two top-ranked teams in women's college hockey.

With the victory, the No. 2 Gophers (14-1-2, 12-1-2-2 WCHA) expanded their points lead in the conference race over the No. 1 Badgers from five points to eight (40-32). Wisconsin (14-2-1, 10-2-1-1) has played two fewer games.

Schipper, a senior forward who played for Breck, gave the Gophers a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 17 minutes, 42 seconds of the middle period. It was her third goal of the season and 100th career point (31 goals, 69 assists). Dani Cameranesi got one of the assists on the goal for her 200th career point.

Schipper got her second goal of the game with 34 seconds to play on an unassisted empty-netter.

Peters, who got her fifth shutout of the season, outdueled the Badgers' Ann-Renee Desbiens in the nets. Desbiens came into the game with an NCAA-best 0.74 goals-against average and made 32 saves.
