U will see Wolverines again soon

Preview: The No. 16 Gophers (10-2, 3-2 Big Ten) are vying for their first road victory this season Wednesday at No. 10 Michigan (9-0, 4-0), but they haven't won in Ann Arbor since 2011, losing their past six games at Crisler Center. The Gophers are 2-12 overall on the road the past two seasons, including losses this season at Illinois and Wisconsin. In beating Ohio State 77-60 on Sunday, the Gophers picked up their third victory in five games this season against a ranked opponent. The Wolverines are playing a ranked opponent for only the second time, but they won in impressive fashion 85-66 against then-No. 19 Northwestern at home last week. The Gophers and Wolverines will play twice in the span of 10 days, with a rematch coming Jan. 16 at Williams Arena.

Players to watch: Gophers guard Marcus Carr has three 30-point games this season and is averaging 23.9 points on 48.4% shooting in 10 games at home. Carr's numbers drop off, though, when he goes away from the Barn. The junior is averaging only 13 points on 23% shooting in two road losses this season, including a season-low 10 points in Thursday's 71-59 loss at Wisconsin. … Wolverines wing Franz Wagner is averaging 17.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in his past three games. The 6-9 sophomore, the brother of former Michigan standout Moe Wagner, had 14 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks and five assists vs. Northwestern.

Numbers: This is the 15th meeting between the Gophers and Wolverines when they are both ranked, but the first since No. 9 Minnesota lost 83-75 to No. 5 Michigan at the Barn in 2013.
