Bar bounces into Bolt basement

The Eagle Bolt Bar's leather nights had already moved upstairs. But a new tenant plans to bring rubber (paddles) back to the downtown Minneapolis gay bar's former basement.

According to city documents, pingpong bar Hop21 is slated for the old Bolt Underground space beneath the building at 501 Washington Av. S., which also houses the Crooked Pint Alehouse, Subway and other businesses. Last year the Eagle relinquished control of the 4,500-square-foot basement, where it held various events and dance nights over the years. Now, Hop21 owner Maksim Vinogradov plans to convert it into a table-tennis tavern.

Plans call for a food menu of sandwiches and wraps (heads up, Jared!) and special pingpong events. Maybe a regular studs-in-studs tournament for old times' sake?

Garofalo's bite

Since her breakout roles in '90s flicks "Reality Bites" and "The Truth About Cats and Dogs," Janeane Garofalo has become one of our more politically outspoken comics. But without shying away from social critique, Garofalo's stand-up isn't nearly as polarizing as her stint on Air America Radio might suggest. The actress endeared to Gen Xers recently jumped ship on Bravo's first scripted series, "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce," midway through the first season, but she's reliable on tour. (7:30 p.m. April 30, $26.50, Varsity Theater.)

Perla was accused of raping a student during a wine-tasting outing in June 2015. Some of the files are so heavily redacted that on many pages no words are visible. Perla is one of 113 UC employees found to have violated the system's sexual misconduct policies in rece
