Seinfeld returns

The master of talking about nothing has added a third show to his two-night stand at the Orpheum Theatre. Jerry Seinfeld offered nothing new last time he performed here, but "nothing new" is still hilarious coming from the former sitcom king.

Fulton: Beer flows in downtown

The little craft brewery that could becomes one of the big boys this weekend. Fulton Beer, which started in a one-car garage in south Minneapolis, opens its 6,000-square-foot brewery Friday. Located two blocks from the Twins ballpark, the facility will be the city's first packaging brewery (Fulton bottles are available in stores). The Fulton guys are celebrating with Mayor R.T. Rybak and a few hundred of their friends at 3:45 p.m. Friday. Following the ceremony, the brewery will begin selling growlers ("half-gallon returnable beer vessels," as they say) from 4 to 7 p.m., and again noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. Down the line, they will open a taproom, where beer fans can drink draft beer right inside the brewery. Thank the Surly Bill for that luxury.

Transmission at the Varsity

It's been a busy year for Jake Rudh. In March, the retro-loving DJ celebrated the 10th year of his Wednesday-night juggernaut, "Transmission." While he continues to pack Club Jäger every week, Rudh found big success when he brought the dance night to the much larger First Avenue mainroom twice this year. Now he's taking Transmission to the Varsity Theater for Thanksgiving Eve. The party, dubbed "Seconds" (named after a Human League song, he points out), will showcase Rudh's taste for new wave, Brit pop, dance rock and more.
