Nick picks: What kids wore to the new MOA theme park

Tweens turned out in droves to hear Ashlee Simpson perform and check out the new Nickelodeon Theme Park at the MOA. Here's what they wore.

KAELYNN DISCH, 11, FROM APPLETON, WIS.

Wearing: Outfit from Limited Too and Dooney & Burke handbag that was a Christmas present. Favorite Nickelodeon show: "iCarly." Best part of opening day: "Shopping everywhere!" Rides? She and her family went back for more on Sunday.

ABBIE WAGNER, 13, AND CINDY MATOS-OMANA, 12, APPLE VALLEY

Abbie wore: Shirt and leggings from Express and shoes from Kohl's. • Cindy wore: Dress from Target; the rest of her outfit is from Burlington Coat Factory. • How they know each other: Best friends since third grade. • Cindy's favorite Nickelodeon show: "iCarly."

LILLY WRIGHT, 5, GOLDEN VALLEY

Wearing: Outfit from Burlington Coat Factory and jean jacket with Minnie Mouse on the back from the Disney Store. • Why she picked out her outfit: "I like the skirt because it has little hearts." • Favorite Nickelodeon show: "SpongeBob SquarePants."

TERRELL GLASPER, 16, MINNEAPOLIS

Wearing: Hat from Beauty Supply. Necklace was a gift for his 10th birthday from his mom. • Favorite Nickelodeon show: "Jimmy Neutron." • Went to the Mall of America with: His nieces and nephews. • Best part of the opening: "Be myself and ride the roller coaster." • Extracurricular activities: Football, basketball and baseball.

Wearing: An outfit her dad bought her at Rainbow (on the third floor of the Mall of America) that morning. • Her favorite parts of the opening: The log flume ride and she got to see Dora. • What she did when she met Dora: Smiled.

CAMDEN MYHRE, 10, BLOOMINGTON

Wearing: Undershirt from Target, jeans and belt from Kohl's and Heelys shoes. • What he tells the stylist when he gets his hair cut: "Don't cut that much." • Favorite Nickelodeon character: "SpongeBob, because he's kind of fun." • His favorite part of opening day: His first and second roller coaster rides.

KRISTIN MONYENYE, 5, ST. LOUIS PARK

Wearing: An outfit from Kohl's. • Favorite Nickelodeon character: "SpongeBob SquarePants because he's so funny." • Favorite activity not at the amusement park: Swimming at the Courage Center. • Favorite color: Red. (That day, anyway.)

The grand opening of Nickelodeon Universe amusement park drew a crowd of more than 100,000 to the Mall of America last Saturday. Miranda Cosgrove of "iCarly," Nat and Alex Wolff of the "Naked Brothers Band," and Lil' JJ from "Just Jordan" signed autographs and took the inaugural ride on the SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge. We took advantage of the long lines to see how some of the new theme park's biggest fans dressed for the occasion. See more looks on page E10.

BROOKLYNN DUGGAN AND OLIVIA EIDE, BOTH 11, ST. PAUL

Both are wearing: Shirts from Justice and hats and necklaces from Nickelodeon Universe 4 U. • The matching side ponytails? "We just did it in the bathroom," Brooklynn said. • Brooklynn's favorite Nickelodeon show: "Zoey 101." • Olivia's favorite Nick show: "Unfabulous with Emma" and "Zoey 101." • How they know each other: Best friends since second grade. "I spent the night at [Brooklynn's] house," Olivia said.
