The Philadelphia Flyers fired coach Craig Berube after two seasons Friday, just the latest coach in a list four decades long who could not deliver a championship.
Flyers General Manager Ron Hextall made the announcement two days after a news conference where he left Berube's fate in limbo.
Berube, who had a year left on his contract, has spent 18 seasons with the organization as a player, assistant coach and head coach, doing all three with both the Flyers and the minor league Phantoms.
"I think in the end, a coach's job is to get the most out of his players, and in the end that's the conclusion that I came to, was that that wasn't the case," Hextall said.
