The New Orleans Saints became the first team in NFL history to score two points defensively on a failed extra-point kick when rookie linebacker Stephone Anthony returned the blocked kick 82 yards.

Carolina was attempting the extra point Sunday following Jonathan Stewart's 5-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Former Vikings defensive tackle Kevin Williams pushed through the middle of the line to block Graham Gano's kick.

The ball bounced fortuitously to Anthony, who snagged it in stride and went untouched the other way to give New Orleans a 16-13 lead.

For this season, the NFL made a rule change moving back the line of scrimmage for PAT kicks from the 2-yard line to the 15 while allowing defenses to return any type of unsuccessful conversion for two points.

•A GRAND CELEBRATION: Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald Jr. made his 1,000th career reception and topped 1,000 yards receiving for the seventh time in Arizona's 27-3 stomping of the Rams. The Minneapolis native is the youngest player (32 years, 97 days) to reach 1,000 catches and is tied for 10th on the career list with Hines Ward. He caught eight passes for 55 yards Sunday.

•MOVING INTO THIRD: Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw his 421st career touchdown pass on the first play of the second quarter against the Eagles to move into third place on the NFL's career list. Brady moved past of Hall of Famer Dan Marino, throwing a toss to the right flat to running back James White that moved the Patriots ahead 7-0 in an eventual 35-28 loss. Denver QB Peyton Manning holds the career mark with 539 TDs. Brett Favre retired with 508.

•OVER 3,000 AGAIN: Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton eclipsed 3,000 yards passing this season during Sunday's game against Cleveland. It's the fifth consecutive year Dalton has passed for over 3,000 yards, joining Peyton Manning as the only QBs to throw for at least that many yards in their first five NFL seasons.
