Eagles coach Chip Kelly denied a newspaper report that said he called LeSean McCoy only to have the former Philadelphia running back hang up on him.
"No, I never called McCoy this week," Kelly said Sunday after the Eagles' 23-20 victory over McCoy and the Buffalo Bills.
Two sources familiar with the call told the Philadelphia Inquirer that Kelly called McCoy on Tuesday. The number came up nameless on McCoy's cellphone, so he answered. When Kelly identified himself, McCoy hung up.
McCoy has yet to talk to Kelly since he was traded in March. Kelly attempted to call McCoy after news broke prematurely that he was being dealt for linebacker Kiko Alonso.
McCoy finished with 74 yards on 20 carries Sunday. He declined to answer questions after the game.
• ANOTHER NON-CATCH FOR BRYANT: Another Dez Bryant reception was overturned at Green Bay's Lambeau Field. In the second quarter Sunday, the Cowboys receiver made what was initially ruled a 28-yard catch on a leaping reception on third-and-5 against the Packers. But the play was reversed on review, with the referee ruling Bryant didn't have complete control as he fell backward to the ground. When the teams met in the NFC playoffs in January, Bryant's 31-yard catch to 1-yard line on fourth down was overturned on review after officials also ruled Bryant didn't maintain control the whole way to the ground.
• DAWSON HONORED: San Francisco kicker Phil Dawson, who spent the first 14 of his 17 years in the NFL with the Browns, fought back tears after getting a standing ovation from Cleveland fans during a first-quarter break as the Browns played a highlight video of him. "I wanted the people to know how special it was to me and that all the love that was coming my way was mutual," Dawson said. He holds the Browns franchise record for most field goals (305).
• NO 6-10 CHAMPION: Victories by Philadelphia and Washington on Sunday mean it won't be possible for a team in the NFC playoffs with a 6-10 record. The NFC East co-leaders are both 6-7, and the Giants are 5-7, but the teams all have games against each other in the final weeks of the season.
