NFC: Another quick turnaround Redskins Hall of Fame coach Joe Gibbs has had only three losing seasons in 16 years. If Washington beats Dallas at home Sunday, Gibbs will have followed each losing season with a winning one.

Gibbs was 7-9 in 1988 and 10-6 in 1989. He was 6-10 in 2004 and 10-6 en route to the playoffs in 2005. He was 5-11 last season, and can go 9-7 and clinch a playoff spot by beating Dallas.

Gibbs, 67, who signed a five-year contract when he returned to the Redskins in 2004 after an 11-year absence, apparently is open to staying beyond next season. He denied a report that he was offered a two-year extension. But he's sure to get one if the Redskins climb back into the playoffs on Sunday.

AFC: Broncos' elevated homefield advantage sinking?

The Broncos have been uncharacteristically blah at home ever since getting blown out by the Steelers 34-17 in the Jan. 22, 2006 AFC Championship Game. They're 8-7 at home since then, but Broncos safety John Lynch still thinks Denver has a built-in home-field advantage because of its 5,280 feet of elevation.

"I think I came into Denver twice as an opponent, and I think it is real," said Lynch, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneer. "I know any time I came here, just walking up the stairs or something like that, you get a little tired. I guess the thing for me is you can do anything for a day, but there is something to it."
