Ali Bernard of New Ulm, Minn., was named to the U.S. Olympic wrestling team on Thursday after Stephany Lee, who defeated Bernard at the Olympic trials, was suspended because of a positive drug test.
Lee swept the championship series against Bernard in the 72-kilogram women's class at the trials last April in Iowa City. The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency announced Thursday that Lee had tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol acid, a marijuana metabolite, in a sample collected at the trials. Lee, 27, also tested positive for the same substance in 2009.
Bernard, 26, competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and finished fifth. She was the bronze medalist at the 2011 world championships in Turkey, a performance that qualified the United States to compete at 72kg in London.

Heath, Mead finish 7-8 Elliott Heath of Winona was seventh and Hassan Mead of Minneapolis eighth in the men's 5,000 final, won by Galen Rupp in 13 minutes, 22.67 seconds. Heath ran 13:28.2 and Mead 13:30.21.
Gabriele Anderson and Heather Kampf, former Gophers running for Team USA Minnesota, advanced into Friday's 1,500 meter semis. Anderson was second overall Thursday in 4:14.23 and Kampf 23rd as 24 runners advanced.
In the men's 1,500, Will Leer (Minnetonka) and Garrett Heath (Winona) advanced to Friday's semifinals. Leer was second overall (3:40:79), while Heath was fifth (3:41:02). Burnsville native Rob Finnerty finished 28th in the prelims.
