Nets' Lopez hurts foot once again

Star forward Alex Morgan left in the 37th minute after turning her right ankle, a blow to the United States women's soccer team in its 5-0 victory over Guatemala in the CONCACAF Women's Championship.

Morgan, who has 49 goals in 77 international appearances, first hurt the ankle during training late last October, then played against Brazil on Nov. 10. She was sidelined until returning to action with her club, the Portland Thorns, on June 7.

Tobin Heath scored twice, and Carli Lloyd, Whitney Engen and Megan Rapinoe had one goal each as the U.S. improved to 2-0 in the group stage of tournament, which serves as qualifying for next year's World Cup. Hope Solo got her 75th shutout.

Stenson advances to quarterfinals

Top-seeded Henrik Stenson defeated Thongchai Jaidee 2 and 1 to reach the quarterfinals undefeated after the opening three rounds of the World Match Play Championship.

American Ryder Cup player Patrick Reed also advanced after beating Jamie Donaldson 3 and 2, and will play Geroge Coetzee of South Africa.

In the other quarterfinals, Victor Dubuisson of France faces Mikko Ilonen of Finland and Joost Luiten of the Netherlands takes on Pablo Larrazabal of Spain.

• Andrew Putnam birdied two of the last three holes for a 6-under 65 and a share of the second-round lead with Russell Knox in the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

Knox had a 67 to match Putnam at 10-under 132 at TPC Summerlin.

Andrew Svoboda and Tony Finau were a stroke back. Finau shot 65, and Svoboda had a 67. Defending champion Webb Simpson topped the group at 8 under after a 65.

• Karine Icher birdied three of her final four holes for a 4-under 68 and a one-shot lead in the LPGA KEB-HanaBank Championship. Icher is at 5-under 139. Brittany Lincicome and Beatriz Ricari were a stroke back. They shot 70.

• Jay Haas and Joe Durant shot 8-under 63 to share the first-round lead in the Champions Tour's Greater Hickory Kia Classic.

Official suspended for gender slam

Russian Tennis Federation President Shamil Tarpischev was fined $25,000 by the WTA Tour and suspended from tour involvement for a year for questioning Serena and Venus Williams' gender in comments on Russian television.

The WTA Tour said the $25,000 fine is the maximum allowed under tour rules and that it is seeking Tarpischev's removal as chairman of the Kremlin Cup for one year. The tour also said Tarpischev owes Venus and Serena Williams a personal apology.
