Helen Mirren, who won an Oscar for playing Queen Elizabeth, returns to the throne for “Catherine the Great,” a four-part series about the Russian monarch who played a pivotal role in the 18th century. Screenwriter Nigel Williams previously created 2005’s “Elizabeth I,” which also starred Mirren, while director Philip Martin did a 2005 “Prime Suspect” movie with — you guessed it — Dame Mirren.
