The Chicago Bulls will start Isaiah Canaan at point guard in Game 5 of their first-round series against the Celtics in Boston on Wednesday, hoping he can stabilize an offense struggling without the injured Rajon Rondo.

More important, they will try to regain the lead in a series after back-to-back home losses.

"I really thought he did a good job picking up the ball and pressuring the pickup point a full 94 feet," coach Fred Hoiberg said Monday.

The cast Rondo had on his sprained right wrist was off on Monday, though he still had a splint for the thumb and wrist. Hoiberg would not rule him out for the rest of the series.

Clippers get deeper

The Los Angeles Clippers will be getting reserve guard Austin Rivers back for Game 5 against the Utah Jazz.

Coach Doc Rivers said his son's minutes would be restricted when the first-round series resumes on Tuesday night at Staples Center.

Rivers has been sidelined since March 30 with a strained left hamstring. He averaged career highs of 12.0 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists during the regular season.

Gordon Hayward should be back for the Jazz after missing part of Game 4 because of food poisoning.

Rockets can advance

The Houston Rockets are one victory from just their fourth series victory in the past 20 years, and coach Mike D'Antoni could be heading to the second round for the first time since 2007.

The Rockets' first opportunity to eliminate Oklahoma City comes at home on Tuesday night in Game 5 of their series.

Nene is shooting 92 percent from the field in the series for the Rockets. That includes a 12-for-12 effort on Sunday.

On the flip side, Thunder wing Andre Roberson is 2-for-17 from the free-throw line — 12 percent.
