Nauert reportedly out as U.N. envoy pick
The State Department says Heather Nauert, picked by President Donald Trump to be the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations but never officially nominated, has withdrawn. Nauert said that "the past two months have been grueling for my family and therefore it is in the best interest of my family that I withdraw my name from consideration." She was a Fox News Channel reporter with little foreign policy experience when she joined the State Department as spokeswoman less than two years ago.

Airlines to offer nonbinary gender options
When people buy plane tickets, they have to select a gender option: male or female. But those two categories don't cover everyone, so some major airlines are planning to offer more choices. Two trade groups that represent major air carriers recently approved a measure that will let their member airlines add "unspecified" and "undisclosed" as identification options. The measure goes into effect June 1. Each airline will be able to decide whether and when to change its own system.

Election officials will weigh tampering case
Investigators on Monday will begin revealing the breadth of an alleged ballot-tampering scheme in North Carolina, launching a potentially bitter and partisan battle over how to fill a congressional seat that has remained vacant since January. The North Carolina State Board of Elections will decide whether enough ballots were affected in Bladen County to taint the outcome in the Ninth Congressional District. The board has the power to call for a new election or certify the November results.
