Youngest champions
Chase Elliott, who turns 25 on Nov. 28, on Sunday became the third-youngest driver to win a NASCAR Cup Series championship. The youngest Cup winners:
1. Bill Rexford: He was 23 when he won the Cup in 1950. He ran in only 36 races over five years. His career totals: one victory, 17 top-10 finishes.
2. Jeff Gordon: He had just turned 24 when he claimed the 1995 Cup championship. His career totals: 93 victories, 477 top-10 finishes over 25 years.
3. Chase Elliott: The not-quite-25-year-old won his first Cup championship in his sixth year of racing. Career totals to date: 11 victories, 184 races.
