Saturday: After issuing "Palomino," their best album yet, in 2010, Minnesota's ever-rising bluegrass/alt-country pickers spent a whirlwind year-plus on the road, gigging everywhere from the time-honored Newport and Telluride folk festivals to trendier stops at Coachella and South by Southwest. The Turtlemen are wrapping things up with a street fest outside one of the local clubs they frequented when people still thought of them as a jam band. It's being billed as the quintet's last Twin Cities gig of 2011, too, as main singer Dave Simonett's side band Dead Man Winter debuts on record next month. Their newly slimmed-down but still heavy-handed Duluth pal Charlie Parr opens, along with elegant soul-rock ensemble Roma di Luna.
