Desaparecidos

Wednesday: Best-known for folkier acoustic songs that sometimes reach vein-popping intensity, Conor Oberst (of Bright Eyes fame) not surprisingly makes a pretty terrific leader of an urgent, roaring punk band, too. His stormy side band Desaparecidos has released only one album in 12 years, 2002's cult-loved "Read English/Speak Spanish," but it has put out a string of impressive 7-inch singles since reforming last year, highlighted by the roaring new "Te Amo Camila Vallejo." Local duo the Birthday Suits will give the headliners a run for their noise and energy levels. (8 p.m. Wed. $25. First Avenue, 701 1st Av. N., Mpls. 612-338-8388.)
