Minnesota freshman Jordan Murphy was named to the five-man All-Big Ten freshman team by the league's coaches on Monday night.

The 6-6 forward gives the Gophers their first such honor in 11 years, since Dan Coleman was named to the team in 2005, one year after Kris Humphries was dubbed All Freshman in 2004.

Murphy, a San Antonio native, averaged 11.7 points and eight rebounds – fourth in the league – on the season. He has posted nine double-doubles on the season, which ties him with Wisconsin freshman Ethan Happ for the league lead.

Murphy joins Happ, Indiana's Thomas Bryant, Maryland's Diamond Stone and Purdue's Caleb Swanigan on the team.

Additionally, senior Joey King was recognized by the conference as Minnesota's honoree for the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
